Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking a Supervisor, Registered Nurse for the Surgical Preparation and Recovery (SPAR) unit. The Supervisor will assist the manager with daily operations of one or more clinical areas, supervise staff to ensure patient safety and high‑quality outcomes, contribute to budget development and monitoring, coordinate purchasing and payroll, provide clinical guidance, and mentor staff.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead and oversee patient care services staff on the SPAR unit.
Ensure patient safety and provide an exceptional patient/family experience.
Assist with budget development and monitoring.
Coordinate purchasing and payroll processes.
Serve as a technical/clinical resource and mentor staff.
Participate in interviewing, hiring, and staff development.
Coordinate staff education, orientation, and precepting.
Adapt leadership style to support department goals and objectives.
Education and qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) – required.
Virginia RN license (or compact/Multi‑State eligible).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
Minimum 1 year of nursing leadership experience.
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience within the unit or a similar unit.
Schedule and location:
City/State: Norfolk, VA
Work shift: First (Days)
Monday–Friday scheduled hours, no weekends or holidays.
