03114 RN Med/Surg Ortho-Post Surgical

Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in Medical Surgical Orthopaedics.

Requirements

Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

License: Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi‑state (compact) license).

Certifications: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter; AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire and maintained thereafter.

Required Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, resilience in stressful environments, computer proficiency.

Essential Functions

Performs plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, and clinical treatments.

Documents patient care given.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition to the care team, physician, patient, and family.

Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including transfer, discharge, referral, and psychosocial support.

Evaluates learning needs of patients/families and provides appropriate education based on age, culture, condition, and circumstances.

Advocates for the physical and emotional well‑being of the patient.

Provides patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice in other nursing units as necessary.

Non‑Essential Functions

Performs other duties as assigned.
