Essential Functions
Greets patients and escorts them into examination rooms.
Assists with varied procedures, both routine and non‑routine, under the supervision of MD, NP, or PA.
Performs vital sign checks and documents results.
Supports the administrative team with appointment scheduling, order processing, encounter forms, and telephone inquiries.
Assesses reasons for visits or phone calls, flags immediate responses, takes messages, and notifies appropriate staff.
Coordinates room rotations and assists with receiving test results, calling patients for lab follow‑ups, and cleaning instruments and equipment per infection control guidelines.
Maintains sterilizer competencies and ensures proper use of PPE, hand hygiene, and body mechanics.
Provides excellent customer service, communicates critical patient information, and maintains a professional, positive attitude.
Ensures accurate schedule communication with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, staff, and patients; verifies end‑of‑clinic schedule and assists with weekly MA schedules.
Participates in daily huddles, staff meetings, workflow meetings; attends at least 75% of scheduled meetings.
Cross‑trains to cover front desk duties when required; manages email communications, uploads photographs into EMR, and uses Meditech, Lotus Notes, i-Heal.
Mentors and trains new employees using established protocols and workflow.
Collaborates with Nursing Supervisor on yearly evaluations, competency reviews, and personnel policy compliance.
Participates in two sessions of annual flu clinics.
Maintains a culture of safety, follows office and clinical equipment competencies, verifies patient identification, complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines, uses universal precautions, calculates hazardous waste disposal, follows chain of communication, and adheres to safety policies.
Performs any other duties as required.
Works required weekends and holiday schedule.
Job Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
Experience:
Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
BLS – Basic Life Support required; CMA – Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills; strong clinical judgment; good organizational and prioritization skills; ability to work collaboratively as a team player; knowledge of medical procedures, anatomy, physiology, and English grammar; ability to remain calm in emergency situations; ability to understand and respond to detailed oral and written instructions; lead and follow nursing supervision; computer proficiency with EMR, telephone, email, and other software.
Schedule:
5‑hour shift every other weekend; one holiday per year; one flu clinic each fall; variable Monday‑Friday shifts.
