Position Overview
Sentara Careplex is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for the Oncology Unit.
Location & Shift City/State: Hampton, VA
Work Shift: Third (Nights) – 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, rotating weekends.
Type: Full-time (36 hours per week).
Responsibilities Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff who work under the supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Responsibilities include: delivering patient care, supporting admissions and discharge processes, and complying with patient safety practices. Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any changes to the nursing staff.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
One of the following programs acceptable for education: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program; Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA); National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA); National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT); completion of U.S. Navy Hospital Corps School; Emergency Services (EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic); or current student in a clinical program with at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT, PT or recent PCT or Nursing Assistant experience.
Certification & Licensure
AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
Preferred: one year of health care experience.
