Position Details
Position: Charge Nurse
Job Type: Pool; Non‑Exempt
Shift: As Needed – 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
Work Location: Crisis – Franklin County Crisis Care Center – Columbus, OH
Salary/Hourly Wage: $48.00 – $51.00/hour
Specialties / Licenses: Registered Nurse (RN) with valid state license; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred; 1 + year behavioral health experience preferred
Mission & Vision Empower individuals on their journey through mental health and substance use challenges with peer‑powered support and innovative behavioral health solutions.
Responsibilities
Guest Care & Advocacy:
Ensure completion of assessments, develop care plans and recovery solutions with individuals, supervise special diet requirements, and administer medication as per protocol.
Team Leadership:
Supervise nursing services for the shift, assign patient care, monitor safety, provide nursing treatment, and maintain medical supplies and equipment.
Compliance & Risk Management:
Assist leadership in ensuring nursing care meets licensing regulations and accreditation standards, maintain documentation, and respond to medical emergencies.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration:
Provide treatment, disposition, and referrals in consultation with the team; coordinate outside medical and nursing support services.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent; RN license (compact preferred).
Minimum 1 year experience in a behavioral health setting.
Basic computer skills, strong attention to detail, problem‑solving and communication abilities, effective listening, and documentation skills.
Must pass de‑escalation training and, if required, driving and background checks per state regulations.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with HIPAA.
Comprehensive credentialing process completion if applicable.
Second‑chance employer: Must pass a seven‑year background check, substance‑abuse testing (if applicable), education verification, fingerprint clearance, and motor‑vehicle report (if driving).
Physical Demands May involve close eye work, substantial wrist and finger motions, frequent sitting, standing, walking; requires use of corrected vision, color vision, and auditory senses. May lift up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment Office and behavioral health facility settings; possible contact with agitated or confused individuals; occasional travel within the region.
