Zone Maintenance Mechanic – Duke Raleigh Hospital

Overview Perform minor repairs and maintenance, assist journeyman‑level equipment craftsmen in the repair and maintenance of medical center plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration facilities.
Hours 7:00 am – 3:30 pm, Monday – Friday.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct scheduled inspections of designated buildings and equipment.
Check and repair minor equipment malfunctions (noisy bearings, broken belts, leaking faucets, blown fuses).
Make minor adjustments in equipment and temperature settings; clean or change filters; oil or grease motors.
Monitor the medical center emergency telephone and log all calls received.
Assist in major repairs in electrical, plumbing, heating, air‑conditioning, and refrigeration equipment as needed.
Operate and monitor street lights, parking lot lights, flood lights, steam systems, and other facility systems according to schedule.
Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent with coursework in skilled trades.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or air‑conditioning equipment (or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience).
Equivalency Statement Work may be performed by a qualified individual who has a responsible job that does not require a high school certificate, but for whom the required skills have been gained through the relevant education or experience.
