Summary
Performs the skilled journey‑level work required to install, modify, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning, refrigeration equipment (HVACR), and direct digital controls (DDC) systems.
Qualifications
Required.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate.
Two (2) years of experience in the air conditioning or HVACR trade at the apprentice II or equivalent level.
Possession of a valid EPA‑approved universal refrigerant recovery certification for types I, II, and III.
Possession of an appropriate, valid motor vehicle operator’s license with a good driving record.
May be required to work an evening and/or night shift on a regular or rotating basis, accept call‑back overtime, or assume an emergency call‑out list status.
Knowledge of the methods and skills used in repair and preventive maintenance of HVACR or trade‑related components, systems, and equipment, including application‑specific and basic computer programs.
Knowledge of local, state, and national codes and common hazards and safety precautions.
Ability to read and interpret instructions, diagrams, sketches, blueprints, and manufacturers' manuals.
Capability to estimate time and material needs, determine when repair is not economically practical, and perform routine tasks and arithmetic computations.
Preferred.
Completion of an acceptable apprentice‑level HVACR training program.
Major Duties / Essential Functions
Perform skilled journey‑level work to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a wide variety of domestic and commercial HVACR equipment and DDC systems.
Maintain and repair trade‑related refrigeration hot‑water/steam systems and other related heating equipment.
Understand and apply knowledge of local, state, and national mechanical and pressure vessel codes.
Locate causes of failure or malfunction by observation and testing of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic components, and application‑specific computer programs.
Clean, repair, replace, and/or adjust pneumatic, electric, and motor controls, and related safety devices.
Repair or replace other functional components of the equipment or systems as necessary.
Carry out designated preventive maintenance and seasonal start‑up and shut‑down procedures.
Perform work on‑site or in a shop.
Drive a vehicle to and from locations and keep the vehicle supplied with tools and materials.
Perform operator maintenance on the vehicle and keep it in orderly condition.
Keep records and make reports of work accomplished and materials used.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Work Environment / Physical Requirements This job requires strength, agility, dexterity, and visual acuity. While performing the duties, the employee must adhere to all site safety regulations and may be required to regularly stand, sit, walk, bend, climb ladders, and/or kneel. There may be exposure to extreme heat and cold, outdoor environments, heavy equipment, moving machinery, fumes, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noises. Lifting up to 25 lb, periodically up to 50 lb, and occasional lifting up to 100 lb alone or with assistance is required.
Salary Range $60,613 – $102,317
