Journeyman Electrician – Batch & Concrete Plant Focus

Job Summary:
Responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems in batch and concrete production plants. Must support continuous operation of ready‑mix concrete, portable batch plants and related equipment, ensuring safety, efficiency and compliance. Travel across Western states (Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska, Wyoming, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Nevada) is required.
Key Responsibilities
Install and repair electrical systems in batch plants, concrete plants and aggregate production facilities, including wiring, motors, control systems and electrical panels.
Perform regular maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime at concrete and ready‑mix plants.
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues specific to batching equipment, mixers, conveyors, water systems and automation controls used in concrete production.
Read and interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints related to concrete, ready mix and batch plants.
Ensure all work complies with national and local electrical codes, safety regulations and company standards.
Collaborate with plant operations and maintenance teams to identify electrical needs and recommend performance and safety improvements.
Train and mentor apprentices or less experienced electricians in the specialized requirements of concrete batch and ready‑mix operations.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, especially around high‑voltage equipment and heavy machinery.
Qualifications
Completion of an apprenticeship program and Journeyman Electrician certification.
3+ years of electrical experience, preferably in concrete plants, portable batch plants and ready‑mix operations.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems in high‑production environments.
Experience with automation, sensors and control systems specific to batching and mixing processes.
Familiarity with tools and equipment used in heavy civil and concrete plant maintenance.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and in varied field conditions.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Willingness to travel across Western states.
Physical Requirements
Move up to 100 lb remotely and repetitively.
Frequent bending, standing, lifting, climbing and ongoing physical activity.
Regular exposure to outdoor elements.
