Responsibilities Under the general supervision of the Clinical Coordinator (RN), the Lead Emergency Room Technician (Lead ERT) is responsible for coordination of patient care and customer service, EKG monitoring, and assisting licensed nursing staff to provide care to Emergency Care Center patients. The Lead ERT will continue to support the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the hospital. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to coordination of ER department flow (ensuring no delays in labs, patient paperwork, and activation of codes within the department).
Minimum Education Graduated from an accredited EMS program preferred. High School graduate or GED required; relevant experience in lieu of a high school diploma/GED education will be considered.
Minimum Work Experience One‑year hospital or EMS experience required.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Certified as a Nursing Assistant by the Texas Department of Health (CNA).
Certified Medical Assistant.
Certified or Licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
Licensed Paramedic.
Completion of U.S. Military Hospital Corpsman training.
Experience or education in lieu of certification/license
Nursing student having completed fundamentals of nursing (LVN or RN).
Completion of Patient Care Technician program.
Graduate of a foreign nursing program with nursing credentials/licensure in country of origin.
Certified in BLS through the American Heart Association also required.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Computer skills. Successful completion of an EKG competency assessment test.
