Position Summary The HR/Payroll Specialist ensures accurate payroll processing, compliance with employment laws, and supports HR initiatives that drive efficiency and employee engagement. This role blends transactional precision with strategic HR contributions, including analytics, process improvement, and collaboration across departments.
Key Responsibilities Payroll Administration
Process biweekly payroll accurately, including tax compliance, garnishments, and deductions.
Maintain payroll records and ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
Partner with ADP and other vendors to resolve payroll discrepancies and tax liabilities.
Monitor SmartCompliance for regulatory updates and address issues promptly.
HR Operations
Administer benefits and maintain confidentiality of employee records.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and HR policies with professionalism.
Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including tax IDs and reconciliations.
Develop and implement HIPAA and OSHA standards and training.
Analytics & Reporting
Transition payroll from transactional to strategic by introducing compensation analytics.
Build and maintain wage tables tied to benchmarks and internal ranges.
Conduct compa-ratio and quartile analysis to guide pay equity and competitiveness.
Prepare and review statistical reports for irregularities and compliance.
Process Improvement & Technology
Create tools and dashboards (e.g., OT trackers, uniform order app) to streamline HR processes.
Maintain and update SOPs and guides in HR SharePoint for operational consistency.
Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual workload.
Work closely with Finance to strengthen payroll and financial integration.
Partner with leadership and other departments on HR projects and culture initiatives.
Communicate policy changes and process updates clearly to employees and managers.
Leadership & Development
Mentor and develop junior HR staff, fostering growth and knowledge sharing.
Contribute to strategic HR initiatives aimed at transforming HR into a business-driven function.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).
Experience in payroll processing and HR operations.
Strong knowledge of employment laws and HRIS systems.
Analytical mindset with data-driven decision-making skills.
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
