Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role focuses on the design, implementation, management, and optimization of core infrastructure systems with a specialization in VMware and related technologies. The Senior Systems Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of the organization’s IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Core Infrastructure Management
Design, deploy, and manage enterprise infrastructure, including servers, storage, and networking components.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to ensure high availability and reliability.
Lead infrastructure-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and system integrations.
VMware Administration
Architect, implement, and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter servers.
Optimize virtual infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Manage virtual machine provisioning, snapshots, and backups.
Configuration Management
Develop and maintain scripts (PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python, etc.) for system automation and process improvements.
Automate repetitive tasks, enhance monitoring capabilities, and ensure system configurations adhere to best practices.
Security and Compliance
Implement and maintain security measures to protect core infrastructure systems.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Collaboration and Leadership
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, database administrators, and application developers.
Mentor junior team members and provide technical leadership.
Document system configurations, processes, and workflows to ensure knowledge transfer.

Windows Servers: Configuration, management, and performance tuning
Active Directory (AD): Management of users, groups, and roles
Group Policy (GPO): Administration and customization
DNS and DHCP: Configuration and troubleshooting
Public Key Infrastructure (PKI): Implementation and management
Virtualization: VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter

Backup and replication tools: Veeam, Rubrik, Zerto, CommVault
High-availability design, clustering, and disaster recovery (D.R.) solutions
Multi-site failover and business continuity planning (BCP)

Familiarity with NetApp, Dell EMC, and HPE storage solutions
Data retention, deduplication, and archiving strategies
Monitoring and Performance
Tools: SolarWinds, SCOM, PRTG
Synthetic transactions and real-time alerting
Performance tuning for Windows servers and virtual environments
Root cause analysis for recurring performance issues
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, with at least 5 years focused on VMware technologies.
Certifications: VMware certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP, or VCDX) are strongly preferred.
Additional certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, or cloud platform certifications (Azure / AWS) are a plus.
Soft Skills
Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
