Under general supervision of a Supervisor I – Senior Services, develop, direct, and supervise programs and special events for senior citizens; publicize programs; initiate and teach classes as needed; respond to requests for information; provide accurate and timely customer service to the general public and internal customers as required. Oversees facility patrons. Important and Essential Duties

Provides quality customer service. Plans, organizes, conducts and coordinates a variety of programs, classes, special events, and presentations for the Senior Services Division. Prepares a variety of reports and other documents such as operating, activity, and statistical reports, promotional materials, and other forms of documentation. Collaborates with community organizations, businesses, and service providers to ensure a variety of activities and information are available. Ensures that procedures and rules are followed at the Rose Park Senior Center. Assists in planning and developing future senior center improvements and recreation programs. Assists in recruitment of class instructors and volunteers. Performs other job–related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Planning and directing group, social, and recreational activities for senior citizens. Principles and objectives of recreation and leisure activities, including organizing and leading groups of people. First‑aid practices and techniques; general safety protocol; understanding policies and guidelines for dealing with emergencies. Implementing and evaluating programs and activities within departmental guidelines. Assessing recreational needs of senior citizens. Ensuring the safety of patrons utilizing facilities. Communicating and interacting effectively with coworkers, managers, subordinates, and the general public. Operating office equipment, including computer equipment. Bringing creative ideas and programs to the center by staying current with popular trends and senior citizens’ desires. Leading and instructing groups in recreation activities. Developing a variety of senior programs and events to meet community needs. Working independently and managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines. Responding quickly in emergency situations; following and enforcing rules; verbally communicating with the public and staff effectively. Professionally communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, both internally and externally. Experience and Training Guidelines

Base Level: Two (2) years of experience in recreation or senior programming (required). A Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Recreation Management, Physical Education, Recreation and Leisure studies, or a related field is preferred. A valid driver’s license; the ability to obtain one within ninety (90) days of employment, or a military waiver is required. Ability to travel to other work locations. Work environment includes the possibility of working outdoors in extreme heat and cold. Physical Demands

Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment: Sedentary – lifting of no more than 10 pounds; Light – lifting no more than 20 pounds; carrying up to 10 pounds; Medium – lifting no more than 50 pounds; carrying up to 25 pounds; Heavy – lifting no more than 100 pounds; carrying up to 50 pounds; Very Heavy – team lifting over 100 pounds; carrying more than 50 pounds.
