Medicaid Grants Accountant

Bring your accounting skills to a mission-driven role as a Medicaid Grants Accountant with the Department of Health and Human Services of North Dakota. You will play a key role in ensuring funds are managed accurately, transparently, and in full compliance while supporting healthcare services that matter to North Dakotans.

As the

Medicaid Grants Accountant , you will be the subject-matter expert on all financial matters related to Medical Assistance grants. You will routinely review financial records, expenditures, and reports to confirm grant funds are accurately accounted for, compliant with federal and state requirements, and reported in a timely and transparent manner. When discrepancies are identified, you will develop and implement corrective action plans and advise leadership on compliance risks and implications. You will also support internal and external audits, prepare required financial reports, and contribute to continuous improvement of grant accounting processes.

To thrive in this position , you must have a strong understanding of accounting principles and have exceptional attention to detail. You must be a self-starter that challenges yourself and views learning new things as an opportunity to grow. In addition, you need the ability to analyze complex financial data and use sound judgement to resolve discrepancies. You need strong communication skills to allow you to effectively work with team members, auditors, vendors, and federal agency staff. Most importantly, you must be flexible with time management to successfully meet the needs of federal reporting deadlines.

To be considered for the Medicaid Grants Accountant , you must have:

a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field

a combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Location This position is based in Bismarck, North Dakota. The candidate selected must reside in Bismarck, or surrounding communities, or be willing to relocate to the area.
