Patient Financial Counselor

Patient Financial Counselors interact directly with patients and their families via phone or in person.
Responsibilities include: Financial clearance of patient accounts, payment collection, and acquisition of sponsorship and financial assistance. Identification of eligibility for state and federal sponsorship programs. Providing education on financial options and completing/submiting applications for Providence St. Joseph Health Financial Assistance. Making eligibility determinations and guiding patients through the financial assistance process, while reflecting Providence’s mission, philosophy, and core values. Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED. At least 2 years of experience in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare business office. Minimum 3 years of experience required, or proven success as a Patient Financial Advocate Associate, preferably with Providence St. Joseph Health or affiliates. 2+ years of experience with automated, computerized account follow‑up systems, preferably Epic. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of reimbursement of health‑care accounts from insurance companies. Prior experience with medical and health‑plan terminology. Benefits
