Audiovisual Production Specialist SG-15 (NY HELPS)
Join the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Division of the New York State Fair as an Audiovisual Production Specialist (SG‑15) in Syracuse, NY.
Position Information
Location: Syracuse, NY
Posting Dates: December 18, 2025 – December 28, 2025
Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday (weekend work may be required for large events)
Salary: $56,807 per year, with potential to reach $72,429 via performance advances

Responsibilities
Support audiovisual needs on the New York State Fairgrounds.
Manage production goals and equipment availability; set up peripheral lights, sound equipment, and special staging equipment.
Meet with requestors to define event and production goals and requirements.
Coordinate event and conference production with other units and staff.
Maintain raw footage filing systems.
Supervise staff assigned to production activities as needed.
Qualifications
Five years of practical experience operating audiovisual production equipment (video cameras, lighting, microphones, non‑linear video editing software).
Experience creating and maintaining digital files to produce broadcasts, web presentations, videos, and CD/DVD/Blu‑Rays.
Associate degree may substitute for 2 years of experience; bachelor’s degree for 4 years; master’s for 5 years; doctorate for 6 years.
Current Department of Agriculture and Markets employee may qualify for reassignment (see Reassignment Qualifications below).
NY HELPS Program This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). Candidates may be appointed via a non‑competitive appointment and, within one year, may have their status converted to competitive status without examination.
Reassignment Qualifications
Current D.A.&M. employee with one year of permanent, contingent‑permanent, or 55(b)/c service as an Audiovisual Production Specialist, SG‑15.
Less than one year: must be reachable on the current eligible list for this location, if one exists.
Applicants may also be appointed permanently if they meet the following: one year of competitive service in a title suitable for transfer under Section 70.1, or four years of practical audiovisual experience with a bachelor’s degree in video/film production (can substitute for two years of experience).
