Tyson Foods is seeking a skilled License Master Electrician to join our Columbus Junction facility. The role involves performing all electrical functions, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of industrial equipment. This position supports multiple technical clusters including electrical controls, fluid power, mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes, ensuring operational efficiency and adherence to safety and food quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on industrial equipment, including motors, transformers, control panels, and motor control devices.
Provide technical support across electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems.
Operate and maintain PLC systems and other instrumentation, ensuring proper data collection and system performance.
Maintain and repair mechanical systems such as bearings, gears, clutches, belts, and seals.
Troubleshoot and maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Ensure adherence to electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and Tyson's internal standards.
Support electrical construction projects, including writing scopes, adhering to NEC standards, and maintaining compliance with company standards.
Maintain food safety, quality, and compliance with applicable regulations.
Collaborate effectively with all levels of personnel, from hourly team members to management and government officials.
Required Qualifications Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred: Associate degree in electronic technology or related technical field.
Alternative: Combination of education and experience, including skilled trade programs or military training.
Experience
Minimum 4 years of experience in industrial maintenance and electrical controls.
Background in electrical construction, instrumentation, and PLC system operation preferred.
Certifications
Valid Master Electrician License for the State of Iowa or reciprocal license required.
Technical Skills
AC/DC circuits, industrial electrical systems, electronic devices (semiconductors, solid-state drives), and control systems.
PLC systems operation, configuration, programming, and troubleshooting.
Maintenance and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Proficiency in SAP Plant Maintenance and Windows-based software (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Soft Skills
Strong verbal and written communication.
High-level critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and good safety/attendance record.
Preferred Skills
Experience with electronic motor drive technologies (servo-motors, encoders, tachometers, closed-loop systems).
Basic microcomputer skills for interfacing with microprocessors.
Project management experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
Additional Information
Travel: 1-5 trips per year outside assigned location.
