Maintenance Supervisor – INDEVCO Packaging Solutions

Description The Maintenance Supervisor plans, directs, leads, teaches, and assists the maintenance technicians and manages activities related to the maintenance of equipment, facilities, and operational support. They also improve lean manufacturing techniques, develop plant‑wide troubleshooting skills, operate the parts inventory within a min/max system based on prior history, and improve the preventative maintenance system to reduce downtime and increase productivity.
Requirements
Facilitate daily maintenance communication meetings between night shifts and day shifts.
Communicate projects and priorities to Engineering Manager & Plant Leadership.
Attend Plant Leadership meetings; communicate & motivate team members.
Key member of the 5S and Safety committee.
Evaluate skill set of each maintenance tech and plan skill development for each member.
Using CMMS, improve existing Preventative Maintenance system.
Prioritize technician workload and projects through standardized work order system.
Review & verify work order completion with Production & Engineering, Shift Managers, Quality & R&D.
Manage parts; bar coding/organization with CMMS to ensure accurate inventory; monitor critical facility equipment.
Analyze downtime and root cause of repetitive repairs.
Serve as technical troubleshooting resource.
Collaborate with Purchasing to select vendors for projects and negotiate contract terms.
Contact local vendors and utility companies for machine breakdown repair service and requisition of spare parts.
Manage contractors for facility work, equipment modifications, work standards for projects, and costs.
Facility and grounds upkeep including seasonal buildings and grounds maintenance.
Manage maintenance budget, projects, inventory, headcount, and labor costs.
Communicate project status – actual versus budget/timelines for equipment start‑up.
Upgrade equipment for speed/quality, resin unloading and product enhancements.
Other projects as assigned by management.
Standards of Performance
Ability to communicate and work well with others.
Basic understanding of computers.
Makes “run/don’t” call with input from Plant Manager, Production Supervisor, and/or Quality/Technical Supervisor.
Meet all environmental compliance as required.
Meet safety targets, audit timelines, and ICORE standards.
Meets all environmental compliance (Air Permits, Waste, Storm Water, etc.).
Meets quality targets (number of complaints and NCM).
Meet installation timelines for equipment and support equipment.
Physical Demand 70% of the time on the production floor communicating with operators, working with Production Shift Supervisor, directing technicians, and evaluating production equipment. Work in manufacturing and office environments, climbing towers, lifting, walking, standing, bending. Work with various extrusion and converting equipment in hot and cold climates.
Education & Experience
5 years managing a maintenance team for a manufacturing facility.
5 years experience in plastics processing or management.
Problem solving & troubleshooting skills.
Strong working knowledge of OSHA 19.10 and 19.26 and NFPA Code.
Strong effective communication & time management.
Maintenance experience with electrical fabrication, mechanical, plumbing, and building.
Experience in pneumatic, hydraulic, vacuum, and chiller systems.
Manage supplies to support preventative maintenance and repair needs.
Lead continuous improvement projects to reduce overall down time on machines.
Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support production.
Forklift maintenance and PM schedules.
Understands PLC Theory.
Experience in using CMMS.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is a plus.
