JOB DESCRIPTION We are seeking an AV and Unified Communications Engineer to join our engineering team. This role is responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning audiovisual and unified communications systems including Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, and Cisco Webex for commercial, government, and educational clients. You will work closely with Sales, Project Management, and Installation teams to deliver complete technology solutions from concept through final acceptance. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with problem‑solving skills to create systems that meet client requirements and AVIXA industry standards.
System Design
Develop AV system designs including signal flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and rack elevations
Create detailed engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
Design unified communications solutions integrating Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Cisco Webex platforms
Conduct site surveys and needs assessments to inform system designs
Ensure designs comply with AVIXA standards and client specifications
Configuration
Implement and troubleshoot program control systems including Crestron, Extron, and Q‑SYS platforms
Configure DSP systems for audio processing, mixing, and distribution
Deploy and configure Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, and Cisco Webex Room devices
Develop user interfaces and touch panel layouts for intuitive system operation
Configure network settings, VLANs, and AV‑over‑IP systems
Commissioning and Support
Commission installed systems and verify performance against design specifications
Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and optimization
Provide technical support to Installation team during integration
Deliver end‑user training and create operational documentation
Support Service team with escalated technical issues
Pre‑Sales Support
Assist Sales team with technical proposals and solution presentations
Participate in client meetings to gather requirements and recommend solutions
Develop scope of work documents and equipment specifications
Stay current with emerging technologies and manufacturer product lines
Requirements
3+ years of experience in AV system design, programming, or integration
Understanding of control system programming (Crestron, Extron, Q‑SYS, or similar)
Experience with DSP configuration and audio system design
Knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Cisco Webex platforms and certified devices
Understanding of networking fundamentals including IP addressing, VLANs, and QoS
Ability to read and create technical drawings using AutoCAD, Visio, or Bluebeam
Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
AVIXA CTS, CTS‑D, or CTS‑I certification preferred
Manufacturer certifications (Crestron, Extron, Biamp, Shure) preferred
Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred but not required with relevant experience
