Public Arts Grants and Project Manager Administrative Officer III Introduction This is a Special Appointment position and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

Main Purpose of Job The Maryland Department of Commerce, through the Maryland State Arts Council, seeks a qualified applicant to serve as Public Arts Grants & Project Manager.

Position Duties

Manage public art grant programs and projects for MSAC.

Report to the Public Art Program Director and collaborate with staff on program administration.

Provide technical assistance, professional development, program evaluation, and collection management.

Offer technical support to organizations and artists in developing grant applications and strengthening project feasibility.

Assist in managing the Maryland Public Artwork Commissions capital buildings program, working with state user agencies and contracted artists.

Maintain an updated inventory of public artwork on funded projects.

Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; work independently and handle multiple priority projects.

Apply knowledge of public art trends, practices, and grant administration; coordinate schedules among multiple parties.

Proficient in Google Suite and related software.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduation or equivalent.

Three years of administrative staff or professional work.

Experience in administration of grants, contracts, or public programs and projects.

Experience managing project timelines and coordinating schedules among multiple parties.

Preferred or Desired Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in visual arts, art history, urban design, or arts administration.

Three years’ experience in arts‑based administration.

Experience with a public arts program that included project management.

Direct work experience with artists, stakeholders, community organizations, design professionals, fabricators, or contractors.

Licenses, Registrations and Certifications

Employees may be assigned duties requiring operation of a motor vehicle; a valid Maryland driver's license is required.
