Job Description You’re an innovative thinker, passionate about the planet and eager to play a role in creating sustainable packaging that keeps the world healthy, fed and working. As part of our world‑class, performance‑focused team you’ll be responsible for ensuring quality and safety throughout our production line.
Responsibilities
Ensuring safety procedures are followed at all times and immediately reporting unsafe working conditions or mechanical safety problems to the Shift Supervisor.
Understanding the product line. Knowing the function of the product and any potential product defects that can adversely affect the function or application of the product.
Performing production verifications at the start of an order and each shift.
Performing the required visual inspections at the beginning of each shift and at the interval specified in the data acquisition software. Immediately notifying the Manufacturing Coordinator if any defects are found.
Utilizing the data acquisition software to determine which gauging (if necessary) must be performed during the production run to ensure quality standards are met.
Keeping accurate documentation in the data acquisition software during the production run.
Inspecting parts on the conveyor belts and in product containers throughout the shift, and performing liner inspections as required.
If applicable, periodically checking the glue tank level to ensure a proper supply of glue is available to the machine.
Properly packaging and handling the production per the assigned manufacturing specification.
Accurately recording scrap and placing the scrap in the proper containers.
Assisting in the performance of machine startups, shutdowns and line clearances.
Keeping machine downtime to a minimum.
Keeping the workstation clean and neat at all times by utilizing good housekeeping practices.
Participating in Lean and Safety programs.
Following applicable Food Safety and cGMP polices.
Assisting in the training of fellow associates.
Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills (written & oral).
Ability to work with minimal supervision and to follow both written and verbal instructions and techniques.
Previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
Skills Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Requirements The employee is regularly required to walk; stand for extended periods; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear; balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch; sometimes climb or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts and loud noise levels, requiring hearing protection.
