One of our major oil and gas clients is seeking a Project Controls Advisor I to work on a 12+ month assignment in their facilities in Spring, TX.
Summary The Project Advisor is an expert in Project Controls, Planning and Scheduling, and Project Services. The Advisor provides expertise to projects as needed, supports the Project Controls Supervisor in updating tools and processes, and assists with training and mentoring of less experienced group members.
Job Responsibilities
Lead/Coordinate effort for providing Project Controls and Planning expertise to projects.
Provide support as needed through project Gates and Check Points.
Create schedules to compare with Operator-prepared submittals (OBO).
Perform ad‑hoc schedule and progress assessments, verifying the project schedule basis.
Participate in PEBRAs, Special Cost and Schedule Allowance (SCSA), and other schedule workshops.
Take part in IPRs and other Cold Eyes Reviews as required.
Support PTs and Area Supervisors with ongoing project controls, schedule analysis, progress measurement, reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and Change Management.
Assist the Project Controls Supervisor with analysis for staffing requirements.
Mentor less experienced group members and ensure technical quality of work.
Provide relief for the Project Controls Supervisor due to project travel or personal time.
Assist in updating the Project Controls Manual, tools, and benchmarks.
Collaborate with the Supervisor to capture lessons learned and best practices.
Assist with implementation of Project Controls tools, deliverables, follow‑up, and assurance processes.
Promote effective communication, teamwork, and alignment among Planning and Scheduling Development personnel.
Drive and promote capital efficiency on projects managed by the department.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management.
3–5 years of Project Controls experience (leadership not required).
Familiarity with mid‑size to large‑scale projects ($250 M–$1 B), including cost control, forecasting, and scheduling.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with multiple business teams and managers.
Experience delivering presentations to project leadership using Microsoft PowerPoint, PowerBI, Primavera P6, and SAP.
Hands‑on knowledge of Primavera P6, SAP, PowerBI, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Experience in Project Services, Project Controls, and Planning.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Experience with multiple international project assignments.
Willingness to travel to required project sites (overseas or domestic) and work in a team environment.
Knowledge of project management best practices frameworks and key work processes.
Demonstrated leadership, organizational, business, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong influencing, consulting, mentoring, analytical, and computing skills.
Location: Spring, TX. Employment Type: Contract. Salary Range: $132,000.00 – $164,000.00.
