College Assistant - Ph.D. Program in History
Join the College Assistant position supporting the Ph.D. Program in History at the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center. This part‑time role (797 hours per year) provides administrative, clerical, and research assistance to the Assistant Program Officer (APO) and Executive Officer (EO).
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in alumni outreach and relations.
Co‑coordinate admissions data and maintain program records.
Maintain the program’s social media presence.
Process purchase documents and reimbursements.
Perform standard office work including filing, answering phones, and ordering supplies.
Handle AV, catering, and facilities requests for events.
Assist students and faculty during in‑person office days.
Maintain address information for all program students and faculty.
Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the APO, EO or DEO.
General Duties
Perform miscellaneous clerical, administrative, research or other work related to the operation of the College.
Operate office machines (copier, scanner, etc.) and sort and distribute mail.
Issue keys and identity cards, act as a messenger, and perform related tasks as required.
Type letters, memoranda, charts, and similar materials.
Act as a cashier and assist in statistical or research activities.
Perform clerical library work including sorting, shelving, and data entry into library systems.
Assist in instructional programs, including tutoring and assisting students in areas such as reading and mathematics.
Enter and maintain departmental records such as inventory control, rosters, directories, and schedules.
Operate computers, computer software, and other electronic equipment as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrate sufficient skills to perform the assigned duties.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Experience or education in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
One year of office or administrative experience.
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
Ability to work independently and solve problems with above‑average capabilities.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Compensation $21.00 – $22.28 per hour.
