The Department of Transportation is actively hiring a Bridge Maintenance Coordinator. This pivotal position oversees maintenance records, schedules in‑house maintenance tasks, supervises the work assignments and repairs carried out by Bridge Maintenance Crews across all inventoried structures, and manages contract preparation for bridge maintenance projects performed by external contractors. By applying engineering principles, the Coordinator ensures sound decisions and judgments regarding the completion of work assignments.
As the direct supervisor of the District’s two Assistant Bridge Maintenance Coordinators (ABMC), you will review reports, authorize payrolls, and monitor County Bridge Maintenance projects and tasks assigned to the Bridge‑On‑Demand contractor, ensuring all work is inspected and compliant with Department standards, regional practices, and original scope of work. You will also design structural repairs, create calculations and sketches, and collaborate with the District Bridge Management Unit to formulate advanced design plans for the County Bridge Maintenance Crews and the Bridge‑On‑Demand contractor.
Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full‑time employment
Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch
Telework: part‑time telework may be possible at the manager’s discretion; a secure high‑speed internet connection and an approved Pennsylvania residence are required
Alternate work schedule (AWS) is available at the manager’s discretion
Starting salary for new Commonwealth employees: $75,658.00 (before taxes)

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer‑in‑Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, an Engineer‑in‑Training certificate acceptable to the board, and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related discipline; or
Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related discipline
Special Requirements
Valid driver’s license required
