Merchandise Manager

At Ulta Beauty, a leader in beauty retail, we are seeking a Merchandise Manager to lead a store team, drive sales, ensure operational excellence, and embody our mission, vision and values.
Overview The Merchandise Manager (MM) reports to the Operations Manager and guides Task Associates in store operations—including shipment, replenishment, omni‑channel, pricing, markdowns, inventory control, and guest engagement. The MM is accountable for achieving top‑line sales growth, operational compliance, and workforce development.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities Performance
Promote accountability to exceed goals in retail and service sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni‑channel, and shrink.
Drive profitability through operational excellence, sales growth and expense control.
Use forecasts, payroll budgets and scheduling to meet productivity, sales and payroll targets.
Review and analyze financial and operational reports, including audit results, and act promptly.
Leverage company programs, tools and resources to achieve store goals.
Provide makeup, skincare and product demonstrations to guests.
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry trends and product benefits.
Hold associates accountable for attendance in accordance with policy.
People
Attract, hire and retain a diverse, high‑performing team.
Build an engaged, collaborative, inclusive environment.
Develop associates through training, competency‑based coaching, succession planning and individualized development plans.
Participate in brand and category education to support associate growth.
Lead by example, model operational excellence, and share best practices.
Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program to meet store APG metrics.
Process
Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty policies, procedures and standards.
Adhere to dress code and scheduling tool requirements.
Prioritize and execute store workload using task management tools.
Execute shipment, replenishment, omni‑channel, price changes and markdowns.
Protect assets through adherence to safety, inventory control, cash management and loss prevention.
Manage inventory control processes and report theft.
Support continuous improvement and communicate business trends to field leadership.
Use company resources to drive store improvements.
Job Qualifications Education
High school diploma preferred.
Experience
1–2+ years in fast‑paced retail or related management.
Financial management: driving sales, interpreting reports, managing payroll budgets, controlling expense.
Retail management: controlling inventory, driving service culture, executing merchandising directives.
Leadership: attracting, developing, motivating talent and navigating change.
Skills
Proficiency with POS, Microsoft Office, Apple devices.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Strong collaboration, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and exercise good judgment.
Special Position Requirements
Flexible full‑time schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Available for shifts starting at 5:00 a.m., Sunday and Monday.
Working Conditions
Continuous mobility throughout the store during shift.
Frequent bending, pulling, pushing, crouching, stooping, reaching, twisting and lifting up to 40 lbs.
Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects.
Frequent use of computers, telephonic devices, and related office supplies.
