NOTE: THIS IS A NON-CIVIL SERVICE POSITION
The Department of Housing (Department), Federal Housing Programs Division, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to serve as a Housing Program Specialist supporting the Department’s affordable housing and community development objectives through the administration of federally funded housing programs and special initiatives.
Responsibilities Performs program planning, coordination, and administrative duties related to the implementation and oversight of federally funded housing programs and special initiatives administered by the Federal Housing Programs Division. Responsibilities include coordinating and administering the Department’s funding activities related to congressionally directed spending and other federal initiatives, including budget development, financial monitoring, and award administration; reviewing funding requirements and identifying Department and community needs; developing, submitting, and administering housing project proposals and funding applications; coordinating inter-agency agreements, documentation, and liaison activities with County legislative consultants, congressional staff, federal agencies, and other governmental partners; ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and County laws, regulations, and procedures; maintaining official program records and preparing required reports; monitoring program performance and recommending improvements; responding to Fair Housing Act inquiries and complaints and supporting related reporting and training activities; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications; however, comparable training and experience may be considered as a substitution. A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in public administration, planning, housing, social sciences, or a related field, and progressively responsible professional experience in housing, grant, or community development programs. Knowledge of federally funded housing programs, grant requirements, compliance processes, budgeting, and report preparation is required, along with strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills; experience in a government or public-sector environment is preferred.
Salary Range $71,000 to $75,000 annually
