Senior Litigation Paralegal CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Paralegal to join a fast‑moving, extremely active in‑house government legal team. The role is a key part of supporting various aspects of the company’s litigation portfolio, including eDiscovery activities, workflow management, and attorney support.

Pay Range $50,000 – $65,000 per year.

Responsibilities

Prepare a variety of technical legal documents that are complex in format.

Review incoming documents and material, consider the case status, and prepare indictments, arrest warrants, summonses, true bills, motions, orders, non‑disclosure applications, stipulations, plea agreements, grand jury and trial subpoenas, and legal memoranda.

Obtain required information from criminal case files, law enforcement agencies, or other sources to include in legal documents before submitting to the appropriate AUSA.

Ensure recurring legal documents conform to local court rules and style guidelines.

Assist attorneys in preparing for trial by compiling trial and witness notebooks, preparing and organizing exhibits, assembling jury instructions, and compiling witness and exhibit lists.

Coordinate with the victim/witness specialist to ensure adherence to current Departmental guidelines regarding victims’ rights and services responsibilities.

Notify case agents and office staff of victim/witness issues.

Use online legal resources such as Westlaw and Lexis/Nexis to verify citations and statutory references.

Research to confirm citations are accurate, complete, and consistent with source material.

Proofread, edit, and revise legal briefs.

E‑file legal documents with the U.S. District Court using the CM/ECF system.

Develop tables of contents and indices for briefs in accordance with established format.

List cited cases, opinions, and miscellaneous references in briefs.

Compose original correspondence requiring a good working knowledge of legal procedures and specialized terminology.

Transmit proposed orders to the court and request extensions of time when necessary.

Advise on actions taken or developments in cases referred by other federal departments and agencies.

Notify attorneys representing defendants of various issues.

Scan, input, and link case‑related materials into electronic discovery databases and manage those databases.

Upload/download documents and materials received from law enforcement partners, including investigative and forensic reports, bank records, electronic communication records, and audio and video files.

Manage discovery processing and production.

Redact discovery materials using Adobe Acrobat and apply discovery processing techniques with IPRO Eclipse.

Send continuing discovery to defense counsel as directed by the assigned AUSA.

Maintain electronic case files, enter data in the case‑management system, and schedule deadlines using MS Outlook.

Prepare and file conflict‑of‑interest and case‑opening forms in the electronic case file.

Qualifications

Paralegal certificate, JD, or enrollment in an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study.

At least two years of litigation paralegal experience; trial experience is very helpful.

At least one year of experience in automated litigation support with sound knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as Westlaw and Lexis.

Hands‑on familiarity with word processing, databases (document review and file‑management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.

Hands‑on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.

Ability to deliver high‑quality work under extreme pressure.
