Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. (varies depending on client schedule).
Job Title: Employment Consultant (Employment Counseling)
Responsibilities
Interview, counsel, and evaluate consumers to determine individual work readiness needs
Collect, analyze, and interpret medical, psychological, educational, social, and employment information regarding each client
Provide pre‑employment skills training and preparation for consumers both individually and in class settings
Provide direct client services including case management on and off the job site, advocacy, referrals, benefits planning, group counseling, skills training, ADL’s, transportation, and coordination of services
Participate in staff and team meetings
Market to employers in developing employment opportunities and placing clients, including post‑employment follow‑up
Complete all required documentation
Be able to work autonomously
Educate staff about educational and vocational resources in the community
Oversee referrals and conduct intakes
Qualifications & Experience
High School diploma or GED with 4+ years’ experience in human services, OR
Associate’s degree with 1–3 years’ experience in human services, OR
B.S. degree with no required experience; a Liberal Arts degree in a human service‑related field preferred
Employment Counseling experience is highly desirable
A valid NYS driver’s license is required
Participate in orientation and continuing education, maintain knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise, and complete population‑specific competency annually for populations served as identified in scope of care and service
Pay & Benefits Pay Range: $20.20 – $29.30 per hour.
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
