Senior Heavy Civil Estimator – HHWAY / Grading
Colorado-Based Contractor | Employee-Owned | $160K–$180K+ DOE
We are actively seeking a seasoned Estimator with direct experience in heavy civil and heavy highway construction to join our growing team. This is not a role for commercial, vertical, or general building estimators — you must have a proven background estimating large-scale civil infrastructure projects such as roadways and grading.
This is your opportunity to work with a self-performing, employee-owned contractor that tackles complex public works and DOT projects across the region. We control the outcome — and reward our people accordingly.
Applicants without direct heavy civil / heavy highway estimating experience will not be considered. Concrete paving, earthwork, drainage, and bridge experience is a MUST.
Key Responsibilities :
Prepare competitive, accurate estimates and bids for DOT and municipal infrastructure projects
Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for civil scopes including concrete paving, grading, utilities, and structures
Solicit subcontractor and vendor quotes; evaluate pricing and scope
Work closely with operations to hand off awarded projects for execution
Track historical cost data and participate in value engineering and constructability reviews
Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and maintain strong industry relationships
Required Qualifications :
5+ years of experience as an estimator in heavy civil / heavy highway construction
Must have recent, hands‑on estimating experience with concrete paving, grading / earthwork, drainage systems, and bridges
Strong knowledge of DOT specs, public works bid processes, and unit pricing
Proficient with HCSS, Agtek, or similar civil estimating software
Advanced skills in quantity takeoff, scope analysis, and bid preparation
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
BS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (but not required if experience is strong)
What We Offer :
Competitive base salary : $160K – $180K+ DOE
Full benefits : medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance
Bonus potential based on performance
Paid time off and holidays
Opportunity to join a high‑performing, growth‑minded team shaping Colorado’s infrastructure
