About The Role We are seeking an experienced People Technology Integration Developer to design, build, and maintain integrations that power our People technology ecosystem. In this role, you will work closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to develop scalable solutions between Workday and a wide range of internal and external systems, with a strong focus on MuleSoft/Workday orchestrate as the enterprise integration platform. The ideal candidate is both a hands‑on developer and a problem solver—someone who thrives in complex data environments, understands HR business processes, and can translate requirements into reliable, high‑performing integration workflows.
Here’s What You’ll Do
Design, build, test, and maintain Workday integrations including EIBs, Core Connectors, and calculated fields leveraging MuleSoft and/or Workday orchestrate.
Architect integration solutions that adhere to enterprise integration standards, security practices, and scalability requirements with an AI first mindset.
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security across HR platforms and downstream systems.
Troubleshoot integration failures, identify root causes, and proactively implement corrective actions.
Partner with security teams to ensure proper data governance, access controls, and encryption.
Work with Workday developers within the People Tech team as well as cross‑functional partners to gather integration requirements and translate them into technical designs.
Document integration specifications, data mappings, workflows, and system configurations.
Participate in Workday release planning and regression testing to ensure integrations remain stable.
Monitor integration performance, optimize workflows, and identify opportunities to increase automation.
Recommend and implement best practices for integration lifecycle management, versioning, and CI/CD within MuleSoft.
Stay current with Workday and MuleSoft roadmap updates, new features, and industry trends.
Required
5+ years of experience developing integrations for Workday HCM.
Strong hands‑on experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, including API design, flows, connectors, and error handling.
Deep understanding of HRIS data structures, HR processes, and secure data integrations.
Proficiency with XML, XSLT, JSON, REST, SOAP, and related integration technologies.
Experience with Workday integration tools: EIBs, Studio, Core Connectors, PECI, and Report‑as‑a‑Service (RaaS). Orchestrate experience preferred.
Strong analytical, debugging, and problem‑solving abilities.
Preferred
MuleSoft Developer certification(s) (MCD‑Level 1/2).
Workday Pro certification(s) in Integrations or relevant HCM domains. Greenhouse experience preferred.
Experience with API‑led architecture and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience integrating HR platforms with payroll, benefits, identity management, and finance systems.
Background with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and monitoring tools.
Our cash compensation amount for this role is between $188,085 - $231,972/year in Denver, between $221,275 - $272,906/year for New York/San Francisco. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate location, experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Employees who are based in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto’s subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.
