Job Summary
The Cardiac Device Technician manages implanted cardiac devices (ICDs, Pacemakers, ILRs), performs in‑person evaluations for outpatients, reviews remote monitoring, interprets data, and educates patients.
Essential Functions Of The Role
Serves as a resource to physicians and staff regarding device patients.
Assesses implant site condition and documents abnormalities.
Interrogates, interprets, and reprograms cardiac devices with minimal supervision.
Ensures accurate billing for device interrogation.
Troubleshoots critical device issues, coordinates resolution, and documents in EMR.
Educates patients on device management and follow‑up.
Mentors junior staff in interrogation policies and arrhythmia recognition.
Promotes a healthy clinical environment and collaboration.
Maintains equipment and supplies, reporting issues.
Key Success Factors
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred certificate from an approved device technical school.
Completion of rhythm interpretation and management education program.
Knowledge of cardiac arrhythmias and ECG interpretation.
Basic computer and EMR skills.
Effective communication and problem‑solving.
IBHRE certification within 2 years of experience (preferred).
Qualifications
Education: H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent.
Experience: 1 Year of Experience.
Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
Language: Must read, write, speak, and comprehend English; corrected vision and hearing within normal range.
