The Technical Designer for Children’swear plays a crucial role in the garment development process, ensuring high-quality standards and fit consistency. This position involves creating initial garment specifications for costing and sample production, conducting fittings, and approving production samples. The designer will establish detailed specifications and construction requirements for various garment types, effectively communicate fit revisions to vendors, and maintain comprehensive tech packs that include sketches, materials, and measurement charts.
Responsibilities
Develop initial garment specs for costing and sample production
Conduct fittings through to production sample approval
Establish specifications and construction requirements for various garment types
Communicate fit revisions to vendors with technical packages.
Create and maintain on-time vendor-ready tech packs, including sketches, materials, and measurement charts
Collaborate with design and technical teams to enhance processes
Ensure brand integrity and fit consistency throughout development
Participate in daily handoffs, translating fit and aesthetic details with cross-functional teams
Recommend improvements on specs and construction techniques
Requirements
4-5 years of Technical Design experience in childrenswear
Strong detail orientation and communication skills
Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and PLM software
Knowledge of garment construction, fit, balance, and fabrics
BA/BS in Fashion Technical Design or related field preferred
1-2 years of patternmaking experience and technical design in the apparel industry
Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and web-based applications; Browszwear 3D experience is a plus
Pay Rate $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
