Opportunity The Dredge Electrician reports directly to the Chief Engineer for daily duties and general maintenance, and is responsible for the repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of all electrical equipment aboard the vessel. The role includes recommending and maintaining adequate spare parts and consumables for uninterrupted operation, inventorying these items into GLDD systems, and working day watch and overtime as required under the general administrative supervision of the Chief Engineer or, in their absence, the Assistant Engineer or Maintenance Superintendent.

Responsibilities and Functions

Perform resistance, megger, voltage, and current tests on all electrical equipment.

Troubleshoot high‑voltage switchboard, MCC, and motor control issues as needed.

Attend vessel‑related training onboard and periodic training off‑site.

Submit administrative work orders, requisition spare parts and consumables, and complete service requisitions.

Provide daily and weekly reports to the Chief Engineer and Electrical Superintendent.

Experience Required

Understanding of automated engine room monitoring system principles.

Minimum 4 years of marine machinery and electrical equipment experience.

Other Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Valid TWIC card.

Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation.

Ability to lift, carry, pull, or push parts or supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
