Sr Mobile Diesel Mechanic

About the Role Fleet Services by Cox Automotive is one of the largest fleet maintenance companies in the country, providing on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services for light, medium and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers. The Sr Mobile Diesel Mechanic will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and advanced repairs in a mobile/field environment.
Duties
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles.
Make minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
Diagnose and repair various truck equipment using test instruments, handheld computers and pressure gauges.
Road‑test vehicles to ensure proper functioning.
Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and use sound judgment to resolve them.
Manage parts inventory, service vehicle maintenance, and safety checks.
Work with clients to assess needs and resolve issues.
Prioritize tasks and manage the daily schedule independently.
Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
Document work on company‑issued iOS devices and TRAIT application, including uploading pictures and parts used.
Complete DOT forms and other documentation promptly.
Communicate with management and support via email or phone for repair estimates and approvals.
Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED with 3+ years of related experience (or equivalent combination).
Minimum 3 years of refrigerated equipment experience.
Supply and possess required hand tools.
OEM training and certifications preferred.
ASE L2 preferred but not required.
Complete all company‑required training.
Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
Maintain a current DOT medical card with at least four months validity, or obtain a DOT physical if not.
Minimum age 21 and valid state driver’s license; maintain Driver Qualification File.
Strong safety record and willingness to drive.
