Responsibilities Field Service Technician to perform customer site visits for new equipment installation and post‑installation servicing of the equipment. Visits shall involve pre‑installation, installation, startup of equipment, training, instructing the customer operators and maintenance teams on the function and safety of the equipment, including all post‑installation support, technical support, equipment servicing, emergencies, and planned maintenance/upgrades. To assist and aid Engineering and Sales in connection with the company's line of equipment. Work shall be documented and presented in connection with all installation, service work, and the calls received to assist in troubleshooting issues.

Essential Duties and Percent of Time Spent

Inspect installation and supervise equipment startups and upgrades for new and aftermarket projects, along with conducting training for the production and maintenance teams (10%)

Field service calls to diagnose trouble and make repairs, including adjustments, part replacements, timing, and synchronization of mechanisms (10%)

Complete Lease or PRoCARE preventative maintenance and site management objectives when scheduled, including PSR reports and parts inventories (45%)

Accomplish service calls for installation, technical assistance, equipment surveys, equipment safety inspections, and to satisfy scheduled Service Agreements (5%)

Assist the parts department in handling telephone communications with customers concerning service orders (5%)

Communicate with customers concerning problems and advice (5%)

Work with Sales, Engineering, or Manufacturing regarding field requests and advise on service problems that indicate design or manufacturing deficiencies (5%)

Make suggestions and recommendations regarding improvements or necessary modifications (5%)

Notify customers in writing as to safety deficiencies observed on the equipment during a service call (5%)

Follow up on action required after phone conversation or in‑plant visit (5%)

Promote Service Agreements/parts sales (5%)

Promote good customer relations (5%)

Requirements A working background with knowledge of PLC, control circuit wiring, electro‑pneumatic systems, PID controller, and computer‑based programs. Troubleshooting skills and knowledge of mechanical motors, hydraulics, and pneumatics are a must. Must be a High School graduate with a minimum of two years in the required field. Two years of tech school or equivalent is preferred.

Experience A strong background working with and troubleshooting computer‑based industrial control equipment in the food industry. Ability to read electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics. A solid mechanical knowledge of servo axis control, conveying, hydraulics, and pneumatics. A minimum of two years in the required field.

Scope of Responsibility/Accountability Explain the degree of supervision/guidance, procedures/processes used, judgment, creativity, planning & resourcefulness needed to do the job.

Supervisory Responsibility Occasional indirect reports, such as Road Crew or Contractors on site. This could vary from one to six people for the installation and rebuilding of equipment.

Work Environment and Physical Demands Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. The majority of work will be in a factory‑type environment. Some work is in the pre‑construction environment. Working conditions are typically those found in processing plants where portioning, cooking, and freezing equipment are in use.

Travel can be 70% to 80% of work time and is not limited to the North American Region.

Physical demands that are typically found in factory work. Heavy lifting is not routinely required. Working around new construction and factory sites, including multiple stories, is routine.
