This position is a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at the Manh Choh Project located in Tok, Alaska, requiring the ability to work safely in a surface mine environment and to deliver quality work with meticulous attention to detail.
Experience Level Intermediate
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
Work independently or with industry specialists to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with production machinery.
Set up, run, troubleshoot, and tear down mining machinery.
Apply experience with diesel engines, hydraulic, pneumatic, and 24‑V electrical systems.
Troubleshoot machinery during production times.
Communicate machine issues to production management when necessary.
Collaborate with equipment operators to ensure machines are running safely and properly.
Perform required re‑fueling and lubrication tasks.
Perform other duties as required.
Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company policies and best practices.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent with prior related field experience.
Minimum 5 years of direct Heavy Equipment Mechanic experience with familiarity in 6030 front shovels, D9 and D10 dozers, 992 wheel loaders, 395 excavators, and 777 haul trucks.
Probable ability to understand, follow, and communicate written and oral instructions with management or supervision.
Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.
Requirements
Meet all physical requirements.
Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Climb, work at heights, and operate in confined spaces.
Work rotating 12‑hour shifts on a 2‑week on / 2‑week off schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Pass pre‑access drug and alcohol testing, fit‑for‑duty medical examination, and background checks.
