Base pay range $60,000.00/yr - $70,000.00/yr
Human Resource Generalist Purpose of the Position The HR Generalist supports the daily operations of the Human Resources department by delivering core HR services including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and performance support. This role partners closely with the Director of HR to ensure consistent, compliant, and effective HR practices across the organization.
Responsibilities & Essential Functions
Manage full-cycle recruiting activities, including posting positions, screening candidates, interviewing, and coordinating hiring decisions with department leaders.
Administer onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire orientation, HRIS data entry, document management, and exit interviews.
Develop, maintain, and update job descriptions to support organizational and compliance needs.
Support the HR Manager with payroll and leave administration by providing accurate employee data, tracking changes, and assisting with audits and reporting.
Administer and communicate employee benefits programs; respond to routine employee inquiries and elevate complex issues as needed.
Coordinate and support benefits open enrollment activities, including employee communication and documentation.
Apply and support company policies and procedures consistently; serve as a resource for managers and employees on policy interpretation.
Assist with employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations, in partnership with the HR Manager.
Support performance management processes by assisting managers with documentation, coaching support, and corrective action steps.
Contribute to talent development, training, and employee engagement initiatives.
Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices; identify risks and recommend improvements.
Prepare and maintain HR reports, metrics, and personnel records to support leadership decision‑making.
Other
Execute the North Freeze Dry Vision, Mission, and Values (VMV’s) at all times.
Promote a positive, proactive environment where input from team members is valued and encouraged.
Provide back‑up support for other roles, as necessary.
Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in human resources.
SHRM-CP or PHR a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Knowledge of employment‑related laws and regulations.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

While performing the duties of this job inside the office, the employee is frequently exposed to normal working conditions for an office environment with a noise level that is usually quiet to moderate. While performing duties of this job inside and outside the manufacturing plant, the employee is frequently exposed to normal working conditions of a food manufacturing facility with a noise level that is usually moderate to loud. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets, as well as laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods of time as well as use hands or fingers to reach or handle, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. All vision abilities are required to encompass close‑up work. On occasion, employee must be able to tolerate and endure extended seasonal hours and maintain alertness to meet deadlines.
Occasionally while performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to machinery and moving parts, airborne particles including grain dust and hazardous materials or fumes, which may require the use of PPE. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, extended seasonal hours, high precarious places, and confined spaces. The noise level in some of the work environments may require the use of hearing protection.
