Base pay range : $66,951.00/yr - $85,138.00/yr
Responsibilities
Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables. Create, organize, and maintain project documents such as project plans, status reports, meeting minutes, risk logs, and issue logs. Create and maintain project schedules, track task completion, and identify potential delays. Manage project execution to ensure on‑time, on‑budget, and within‑scope delivery. Foster a collaborative and productive team environment. Proactively identify issues or risks and elevate them as needed to ensure appropriate resolution or mitigation. Prepare regular project status reports for stakeholders. Manage project changes effectively, following established change control processes. Ensure proper project closure, including documentation, lessons learned, and stakeholder sign‑off. Effectively allocate and manage project resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials. Develop and implement a communication plan to ensure effective communication among project team members, stakeholders, and management. Ensure project goals align with the overall strategic objectives of the organization. Shadow experienced project managers to understand their methodologies, decision‑making processes, and stakeholder management techniques. Gain an understanding of different project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and apply appropriately. Minimum Qualifications
Open to NYS employees in a title designated appropriate for Section 52.6 transfer to the title of Project Manager Trainee 1 or Project Manager Trainee 2. NY HELPs Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree and two years of professional experience in project management, including planning and at least three of the management process groups: origination, initiation, execution, control, and closing. The experience must include development of project management deliverables such as scope statements, schedules, budgets, quality plans, risk plans, and communication plans; or current certification from the Project Management Institute as a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM); or current certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP). A Juris Doctor, master’s, or higher degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience. Candidates eligible under the Governor’s Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55‑b/c of the Civil Service Law will also be considered. Certified eligible individuals must possess a bachelor’s degree. Please provide a copy of your letter of eligibility and an unofficial transcript with your application. Salary range above applies to candidates appointed to Project Manager 1, G‑18. The hiring rate for Project Manager Trainee 1 starts at $52,198 and is based on the candidate’s salary at the time of hire. Candidates hired into the traineeship will be advanced to Project Manager 1 upon successful completion of a two‑year traineeship.
