Job Objective
– Works with slasher tender and slasher helper to accomplish all job requirements of the slashing process.
Essential Job Functions
Obtain full section beam and position at slasher creel; move empty section beam to storage rack.
Doff full warps from slasher and place empty beam in slasher.
Record production information and make tickets.
Haul full warp beams to storage rack and return with empty beam.
Weigh slasher waste, push to waste house and place in proper container.
Clean slasher at set out; lease ends; assist lay ends in expansion comb.
Patrol and inspect for quality.
Cut laps off rolls and beams; obtain and mix size; greases slasher.
Must be able to use overhead hoist to haul warps weighing up to 1,500 lbs.
Must be able to operate a forklift.
Must be able to climb and use a ladder.
Must be able to push waste buggies weighing up to 900 lbs.
Must be able to work safely around hot steam and liquid.
Must be able to work in temperatures slightly above the comfort zone.
Must be able to sweep and keep work area clean and organized.
Must be able to work safely around moving parts.
Must be able to read basic written instructions; write legibly; perform simple math; distinguish colors.
Must be able to wear ear plugs, respirator/dust mask, goggles/eye protection, and other protective equipment.
Must be able to meet plant schedules and attendance requirements as specified in company policies.
Equipment West Point and Griffin Slashers, overhead hoist, forklift, section and loom beams, lease rods, lease strings, sizing materials, tape, scissors, waste buggy, knife, broom, cut resistant glove, goggles, earplugs, respirator/dust mask.
Critical Skills/Expertise
Safe operation of a slasher and overhead hoist.
Safe handling of section and loom beams; safe operation of a forklift.
Understand a slashing order; proper lifting and handling techniques.
Knowledge of yarn styles; ability to work with other associates to keep slasher in production.
