Permitting Coordinator

Job Summary The Permit Coordinator is responsible for managing permit applications and related documentation for commercial and residential garage door installation, hurricane shutters and screens, and gates. This role ensures compliance with municipal and state regulations, supports internal teams by tracking permit progress, and maintains detailed records to support project timelines. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and familiar with permitting processes in the construction or home improvement industries.
Essential Job Duties
Prepare and submit permit applications to local municipalities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current regulations
Monitor application statuses, follow up with permitting offices, and resolve outstanding issues in a timely manner
Maintain comprehensive records of all permit-related activities, including approvals, corrections, inspection dates, and correspondence
Collaborate with sales, service, and installation departments to confirm job readiness and permitting requirements
Request and compile necessary documentation such as Notices of Commencement, surveys, product approvals, and elevation drawings
Schedule inspections and communicate relevant updates to internal teams and customers
Review job scopes and determine applicable permit requirements based on project type and location
Assist with maintaining up-to-date license and insurance documentation for submittals
Provide general administrative support to the permitting team as needed
Job Skills and Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience in permitting, construction administration, or a similar document-driven role is preferred
Knowledge of Florida permitting processes and systems is a strong plus
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
Capable of working independently and collaboratively with internal departments
Valid driver’s license required for occasional local travel related to permitting needs
