Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group is actively seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to practice in our Behavioral Health office in Newport News. Behavioral health experience is preferred. The schedule is

full-time

work hours, Monday-Friday.

Position Summary The LPN is responsible for performing a variety of clinical/administrative duties for the physician and members of the practice as well as serving as a patient advocate.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

Perform patient intake to include medical history with accurate documentation in the electronic health record.

Patient triage to include vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height, weight).

Perform phlebotomy and ancillary clinical kit testing and specimen collection.

Administer injections, immunizations and medications with training and supervision; assist the physician as needed.

Complete pharmaceutical prior authorizations and refill requests.

Phone triage to include communication with pharmacies for patient medication refills with accurate documentation in the electronic health record.

Coordinate and support medical providers that focus on medication management and general education of medications.

Perform daily reconciliation of medication inventory.

Electronic input of patient lab, radiology orders and referrals coordinating patient care.

Provide crisis intervention services as necessary.

Participate in team meetings and clinical staffing.

Participate in professional development training for clinical staff.

Exhibit strong computer skills, knowledge retention and organization skills.

Function in a multi-disciplinary environment, requiring excellent organizational and customer service skills.

Perform other duties as requested by the Office Manager.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Knowledge of multiple telephone line systems, computer systems and applications.

Knowledge of office equipment.

Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.

Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type from draft copy, review and edit reports and correspondence.

Attention to detail.

Excellent customer service skills.

Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.

Education / Training / Requirements

COVID‑19 vaccination required.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

One year experience in a medical environment required.

Current VA State Licensed Practical Nurse license required.

Current CPR or BLS certification required.
