Shipping Forklift Operator – Motley DC Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America. Compensation: $21.75 to $25.66 per hour (non‑exempt).

Summary Drives gasoline, liquefied gas, or electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift, boom, scoop, lift beam and swivel hook, fork grapple, clamps, elevating platform, or trailer hitch, to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials.

Key Responsibilities

Move levers and press pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.

Position forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transport load to designated area.

Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

Unpack and examine incoming shipments, record shortages, reject damaged items, and notify Food Safety Quality Assurance of damaged and out‑of‑spec items.

Unload and stack material by raising and lowering lifting device.

Inventory materials on work floor, and supply workers with materials as needed.

Scan all inbound and outbound pallets.

Weigh materials or products and record weight on tags or production schedules and apply barcode labels.

Load or unload materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device.

Lubricate truck, recharge/replace batteries, fill fuel tank, or replace liquefied gas tank.

Work in sub‑zero freezer area with proper company PPE provided.

Use SAP program to look up and verify shipment details, print labels and bills.

Follow plant food safety and quality policies and procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

Acquire knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.

Notify designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.

Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Three to six months experience driving forklifts.

Must be forklift certified, or able to become forklift certified. Must be able to qualify for lift truck certification within two weeks.

Preferred Qualifications

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to climb or balance. Occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee moves objects regularly up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
