Overview Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Shift Differentials

New Increased Weekend Option Differential: $10.00 RN

Unit Description RN4D is an intermediate ICU, otherwise called a Progressive Care Unit. The unit includes a 28 bed fully monitored unit and provides high acuity care to critically ill post‑operative cardiothoracic, vascular patients, and medical overflow. Common therapies seen on 4D include chest tube management, lytic therapy, anti‑arrhythmic, low‑dose vasopressors, BiPAP and high‑flow oxygen systems, insulin drips, and precedex. 4D works closely with Neuro Trauma PCU and other ICUs for cross‑training opportunities. It is part of the Critical Care Cluster, which includes all ICUs and PCUs, and offers compassionate, busy, team‑oriented care with endless learning opportunities and dedicated mentoring. A career path program is available to transition into ICU units with an 18‑month track.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program

Licensure: Must obtain and maintain a current RN license within the hiring state, or compatible compact licensure, and meet all state board of nursing requirements

Physical requirements: Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds regularly; prolonged standing and walking each shift; ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed

Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association, or successful completion of the course within 30 days of hire
