Physical Therapist - Full Time

Overview Under the direct supervision of the Physical Therapy Supervisor, the Physical Therapist evaluates and treats all patients referred for physical therapy in the Acute setting; prepares reports and communicates patient progress to MDs, nurses, case managers and other clinical staff; assists with patient discharge recommendations; contributes to the development of the department.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care.
Designs and implements a plan of care for the patient based on assessment.
Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care.
Document evaluations, treatment goals, and plans.
Provides direction and leadership to staff and acts as a resource to promote physical therapy within the community.
Communicates effectively with other professional and support staff to achieve positive patient outcomes.
Qualifications
BS, MS or doctorate degree in physical therapy from an accredited institution.
Current license to practice physical therapy in the state of Louisiana.
Must maintain required hours of in‑service per year to meet CEU requirements.
CPR certification as outlined in hospital policies and procedures.
Ability to remain calm in an emergency or crisis situation.
Knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of the population age groups that will be receiving services.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is medium, preferably up to 50 pounds of lifting or carrying without help or over 50 pounds with help. Includes handling patients of all weights with help as needed.
Positions require standing, walking frequently; sitting, kneeling, stair climbing occasionally; stooping and bending frequently; overhead reach occasionally; pushing/pulling wheelchairs, stretchers and patients.
