Department: UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham Pulmonary Group Schedule: Blend of inpatient (ICU and hospital consult service) and outpatient clinic practice with rotating call coverage among physician group. Work Location: UAB St. Vincent's Hospital, 800 Saint Vincent's Drive, Suite 600, Birmingham AL 35205 Licensure & Expectations
Preferred completion of accredited Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship. Board certification in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine. Licensed Graduate Doctoral Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners prior to hire date. Advanced Life Support credential from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred. Responsibilities
Evaluate & treat patients with acute and chronic pulmonary diseases such as COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, and pulmonary hypertension. Manage critical care patients in the ICU, including those requiring mechanical ventilation and advanced life support measures. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate with medical staff to ensure coordinated care. Maintain all aspects of outpatient pulmonary clinic. Accept patient referrals from other physicians. Act as admitting, attending, and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization. Participate in academic programs such as medical education and research as requested. Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements and appeal denials in a timely manner. Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules. Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required. Board certification in Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine. Licensed Graduate Physician MD/DO from Alabama Board of Medical Examiners. Advanced Life Support credential from the American Heart Association (AHA) preferred.
