About the team : Capital One is seeking a Senior Director, Technical Program Manager to work on a large integration project within our Card Technology organization. This individual will be accountable to drive execution of a cohesive roadmap across multiple workstreams in collaboration with our enterprise partners. This could include building platforms and capabilities that interact with Capital One Enterprise systems; building automation and tooling to de‑risk and standardize as we migrate clients to core processing platforms; building accounts and transactions integrations to our financial core system.
This is a highly visible and influential role that requires deep technology experience, customer focus, organizational leadership, effective communication and program management skills.
Success in the role requires an innovative mind, a proven track record of delivering large scale, complex next generation software and data products, rigorous analytical skills, and a passion for delivering customer value.
Key Responsibilities • Own and execute on the roadmap for multiple workstreams, ensuring alignment with enterprise partners and customer needs.
• Lead a world‑class team of technical program managers, cultivating a culture of real‑time, intelligent experiences.
• Drive well‑educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives.
• Simplify technically complex issues and guide cross‑team collaboration to deliver results.

Strong technical backgrounds, proactively identifying and mitigating technical risks.
Experience building and leading a world‑class team of technical program managers.
Lead technology focused discussions with senior leadership.
Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
Excellent problem‑solving and influencing skills.
Quantitative approach to problem solving and collaborative implementer.
Experience growing and developing a TPM team and building foundations for the TPM practice.
Ability to simplify technically complex issues and drive decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science representatives.
Deep focus on execution, follow‑through, accountability, and results.
Exceptional cross‑team collaboration; able to work across functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries.
Highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listener, and deep seated empathy for teams and partners.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
At least 9 years of experience managing technical programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering).
MBA or Master’s Degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience.
9+ years designing and building data‑intensive solutions using distributed computing.
5+ years building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture – preferably using AWS.
5+ years building & leading experienced TPM team.
5+ years experience building highly scalable products & platforms.
5+ years experience with Agile delivery.
5+ years experience delivering large and complex programs, owning business or technical vision, collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
2+ years experience building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment.
Salary : McLean, VA: $264,300 – $301,700; Richmond, VA: $240,300 – $274,300 for Sr. Director, Technical Program Management.
