The Accounting Coordinator will have primary oversight over the administrative preparation of the financial statements, tax documents, and various financial reports for internal and external parties. The position will also maintain accounting files in a highly organized manner and ensure key deliverables are prepared and ready for individuals across the company to review and update in a timely manner. By building and maintaining internal and external relationships with cross‑functional teams, the Coordinator will develop a critical awareness of process improvements from an accounting perspective and provide insight that aligns with organizational changes and future growth. The role will own the administrative preparation of various deliverables while supporting a fast-paced environment and a dynamic group of professionals across the organization, and reports directly to the Senior Controller.
Duties & Responsibilities
Support daily accounting operations by maintaining records, processing transactions, and assisting with accurate financial and regulatory reporting.
Prepare an initial draft of key accounting documents including but not limited to internal reports, financial statements, and tax reporting schedules by rolling forward the previous months or years’ files and considering any potential changes that need to be flagged for review.
Proactively consider and prepare timelines that provide adequate time for various team members to prepare, review, and finalize key reports within tight deadlines.
Coordinate the reporting preparation process within a dynamic, fast paced environment.
Coordinate the communication between the accounting department and other departments throughout the organization to aid in accurately recording monthly financial transactions.
Actively participate in cross‑functional team projects and initiatives as needed.
Assist directly in the annual financial audit, the budget process, and other ad‑hoc projects within the finance and accounting functions.
Assist with department budget preparation, tracking, and analysis.
Support and assist all accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, capital projects, fixed assets, debt, prepaids, and system enhancement and optimization projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in accounting or related field
Minimum of three years’ experience preferred
Basic understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accounting practices preferred
Ability to stay highly organized, work independently, and prioritize order over all inputs and outputs of the position and daily needs, as directed
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and related MS Office products
Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic and growth mindset environment
Self-starter who can problem solve, utilize, and exhaust available tools and resources, and take initiative independently or as part of a team
High functioning level of attention to detail and accuracy
Strong professional, written, and verbal communication skills
Demonstrate ability to utilize critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills daily
