Pay Range Base pay: $180,000.00 per year – $300,000.00 per year. The actual salary will be based on skills and experience.

Purpose of Position Under the direction of the Chief Contract Officer, the Senior Contract Attorney provides legal review and guidance on procurement contracts, supply chain agreements, vendor negotiations, and contract service level agreements to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Advise the Chief Contract Officer on procurement‑related contract matters and risk management strategies.

Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of procurement contracts, vendor agreements, master services agreements, software licenses, and IT agreements, including PHI and cloud services.

Ensure contracts include appropriate pricing, warranties, liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution terms.

Collaborate with procurement, finance, and operations teams to align contract terms with business objectives.

Identify potential legal and financial risks, escalating as needed to optimize contract terms.

Conduct training for procurement and contract teams on contract management, compliance, and risk mitigation.

Handle vendor disputes, contract breaches, and escalating litigation to the Office of the General Counsel.

Work with the Office of Legal Affairs to establish standard contract templates and procedures.

Provide strategic and contractual advice to senior leadership and business partners.

Assist the Chief Procurement Officer with drafting materials and research.

Communicate and manage priorities at all levels of the system.

Review supply chain Board‑level documentation for presentation.

Manage a team of contract attorneys and perform administrative duties.

Monitor evolving legal and regulatory requirements impacting healthcare procurement.

Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Admission and active membership to the New York State Bar.

Six (6) years of experience drafting and negotiating contracts under New York law, including three (3) years of progressively responsible or supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.

Ten (10) years of relevant experience drafting and negotiating contracts under NY law, with at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience.

Excellent interpersonal, analytical, oral, and written communication skills.

Knowledge in supply chain management, healthcare regulations, vendor negotiations, NY state/City labor laws, CMS regulations, anti‑kickback laws, FOIL, public procurement methods, vendor diversity requirements, in‑house legal experience, and commercial contracting in a healthcare environment.
