(travel required throughout Texas and surrounding states) Position Summary:
The
Business Development Manager (BDM)
will drive
new business growth
across the Texas region by identifying, developing, and securing new customers in strategic markets. This role will focus on expanding VTC’s market footprint in
utilities, renewable energy, EPCs, and industrial customers , generating qualified leads, and developing long-term relationships that convert into sustained revenue. The BDM will work closely with the
Director of Sales ,
Key Account Managers , and
Applications Engineering
to craft tailored solutions that meet customer needs and position VTC as the partner of choice for complex transformer projects. Key Responsibilities:
Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities across the Texas and Southwest region. Develop and execute a regional sales and market development plan aligned with company growth goals. Cultivate relationships with
utilities, EPCs, developers, consultants, and industrial clients
to position VTC early in project design and specification stages. Generate and manage a
sales pipeline , from prospecting through proposal and contract closure. Collaborate with internal teams (Applications Engineering, Project Management, Marketing) to develop proposals, RFP responses, and technical presentations. Represent VTC at trade shows, technical conferences, and industry events to strengthen brand presence. Gather and analyze market intelligence on competitors, pricing, and emerging technologies. Provide regular reports on market activity, sales metrics, and progress toward regional goals. Work closely with
Key Account Managers
to ensure a seamless transition from lead generation to account management. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
in Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field (MBA preferred). 5–8 years
of experience in
power equipment, transformer, or electrical infrastructure sales . Proven success in
business development, market expansion, or technical sales
roles within the power industry. Deep understanding of
utility and renewable project lifecycles , including RFP and bid processes. Strong technical aptitude with the ability to interpret transformer specifications and drawings. Exceptional relationship-building, presentation, and negotiation skills. Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Willingness to travel up to
50%
