Key Duties and Responsibilities
Set up and maintain item records, working with suppliers and sales reps as needed. Maintain supplier contact information as needed. Distribute any price change notifications Establish and maintain the item and supplier planning details in the ERP system, including minimum order quantities, tiered pricing quantities, prepaid freight terms, lead times, etc. Track and submit rebates for manufacturers where agreements are in place. Determine the most cost-effective warehouse to store new items, coordinating with the Purchasing Manager, Branch Manager and Sales Rep as appropriate. Place direct ship POs based on Sales Order activity. Place POs for stock, considering minimum order quantities, preferred and safety stock levels, freight costs, and inventory turn goals to minimize total cost. Monitor and follow up on open POs to ensure delivery dates are established and updated, pricing, and quantity details are accurate. Expedite or defer POs as needed. Review and clean up any leftover PO’s. Communicate any delays to Branch and sales rep. Work with the branch, sales reps, and suppliers to resolve cost/quantity discrepancies, vendor RMA’s, and defective material. Work with the Logistics Specialist on freight damage claims. Monitor KPI’s and take corrective actions as needed. Support continuous improvement projects to reduce overall total cost of managing inventory. Other tasks as assigned Education and/or Experience
Three years minimum buyer experience in a similar industry. Knowledge of inventory management and replenishment processes Working knowledge of ERP systems and related IT applications Experienced in Lean Six Sigma or equivalent CI processes Competencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to solve problems using a structured approach Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite, TEAMS/Sharepoint and ERP systems. Some domestic travel Work Environment
Warehouse environment, not climate controlled. Office environment, climate controlled Noise level in this work environment is usually moderate Seniority level
