Basic Job Functions This position must help drive continuous improvements in production tracking, process efficiency and plant automation.
Perform mechanical repairs to all shop equipment and tools as necessary
Use multi‑meter to troubleshoot electrical problems
Work directly with production personnel to repair equipment
Read and understand electrical schematics and symbols and modify graphic drawings as needed
Complete work orders and preventative maintenance forms
Perform a daily walk‑through of assigned areas
Repair emergency problems with minimal downtime
Record every intervention for daily and future analysis which includes maintenance time consumed and materials issued from the storeroom
Perform necessary activities during PM days
Ability to troubleshoot industrial equipment and has mechanical knowledge with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Install, maintain, and upgrade automation systems at key points in the production process
Troubleshoot non‑functioning components including servos, sensors, and control components
Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and robotic systems
Attend automation, robotics, and equipment supplier training
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications
Two‑year Electrical or Mechanical Degree or two years Industrial Maintenance experience preferred
Supervisor and/or manager recommendation
Dependable/Flexible to rotating shifts
Diverse background in PLCs, HMIs, and industrial controls
Ability to travel for training and alignment with the other NTS sites
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in industrial maintenance
Good understanding of overall maintenance process and electrical principles including the following:
Networking tools and standards
Ability to interpret electrical schematics for installation, repair, and maintaining equipment
Basic pneumatic and hydraulic system knowledge
Preferred Qualifications
High school Diploma or GED
Technical School or formal training school
Industrial or Mechanical experience preferred
Must be able to read and write basic English
Willing to work rotating shifts
